A well overdue gift for YOU
“Do something for myself?” you ask... Yes, I’m serious. I bet that for many of you, I can probably come close to reading your mind right now. Here goes...
“Oh, this time of year is crazy. I couldn’t possibly imagine having the time or energy to do something that’s just for me. I’m so busy with work, being a parent, Xmas shopping, [insert other craziness here] ... that if I happen to have five minutes to myself, I either use it to breathe, or end up falling asleep.”
Sound like you?
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. I recognise this feeling all too well - particularly at this time of year. Wouldn’t you just love to be able to say this instead?
“Yep, I do things for myself regularly. Just the other day in fact, I bought myself something I’ve had my eye on for a while, and it arrived in the mail this morning. And now, instead of letting this gorgeous book sit in its package, I’m going to make time to read it.”
Sounds too simple, doesn’t it? I know. I’m guilty of buying myself nice things with the intention of taking some ‘me time’ to actually make use of it. But, consider this for a moment. You’re taking time to read this, aren’t you? Of course, reading a blog post doesn’t take as long as reading a book, but you made time, didn’t you? No one forced you, and your world didn’t come crashing down around you because you were focused on reading for a few minutes, did it?
And, I promise you, you’ll get far more out of taking time out to read a book than a blog post. Here’s why.
Time seems to cease existing
You know the feeling. Time goes by so quickly that you forget everything and everyone around you. It really is as if time doesn’t exist for a while, and how blissful is that?
You’re truly in a state of relaxation (and often even meditation)
Oh, that feeling. It’s unlike any other, when you’re reading words on a page and find yourself having to re-read over the last paragraph. Do you know why this is? I’ll tell you. It’s because you’re so bloody relaxed, that you’ve drifted into a meditative state. Meditation isn’t as difficult as it seems, you know. It really is that easy.
You may just learn something (about yourself, too)
It really doesn’t matter what you choose to read, because no matter what, you’ll always learn something – whether it’s the content you’re soaking up, or relating the words in the book back to your own life. That’s the beauty of the written word. Powerful indeed.
You get real ‘me time’
Instead of just quickly scanning an article or some post on Facebook in between everything else you’re juggling, engaging in a book means that you’re consciously giving yourself permission to rest and just be. It doesn’t matter for how long – the point is, you’re doing it. For you.
So, if you are one of many at this time of year who find yourself spinning around in circles, not knowing how to chill and just ‘be’, take my advice. Grab yourself a book and recharge, re-balance, and take some well-deserved time out. Even if it’s just for an hour. C’mon, you know you want to.
To encourage you all to do this for yourselves, we are offering the first 20 of you to comment on our Facebook post a free eBook of your choice.
Heck, let’s even throw another incentive in! Free shipping on all books purchased until Xmas Eve for everyone! No excuses now! Just use the code METIME on checkout.
If you really think you don’t have time to do this for yourself now, then at least give yourself a treat for Xmas and grab yourself a book. We’ll even pop in a kick-ass reminder for you along with it, to make sure you don’t forget to take some time for you.
Happy reading!
